The Rock Prairie neighborhood north of Tipton lost one of its beloved pioneer residents Tuesday morning, when death claimed Theodore Davis, age 82. Mr. Davis had been in poor health for some time from heart and dropsical troubles. Theodore Davis was born November 10, 1851, in the rock Prairie community, to John and Jane Davis. He spent the remainder of his life and reared his children in the Rock Prairie community. When grown to young manhood, the deceased was united in marriage to Lucy Smith. She was the daughter of William and Mary Smith. Her death occurred about 43 years ago. To them were born three children, all of whom survive; Lizzie, wife of Frank Davis, of Kokomo; Anna, wife of Tunis Henderson, of Hopewell; and George Davis, of Windfall. Following the death of his first wife, he later remarried, this time to Lillie Stout, and this union was blessed with seven children, they also surviving their father, as follows: Ethel, wife of Howard Hannah, of Sharpsville; Esta, wife of John Idlewine, of Greentown; Marie, wife of Walter Blessing, of Windfall; Marjorie, wife of Lawrence Shrader, of California; Susie Davis, at home; and Tommy and Ervin Davis, residing near the parental home.
