She attended Our Lady of Refuge School and graduated from Nazareth Academy in Victoria, Texas. She attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Houston and graduated as a registered nurse. She later received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the United States Army.
In 1959, she married Dr. Dallas H. Dalton Jr. while on duty s an army nurse in Japan. They traveled to Birmingham, Alabama and then to Charleston, South Carolina for work and further study, eventually settling in Corpus Christi, Texas where they lived for many years. They moved to McAllen in 1989.
Anita is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Dr. Dallas H. Dalton Jr. of McAllen, Texas; her children, daughters, Theresa Dalton Salinas and husband, Alvaro of Monterrey, Mexico, Mary Delores (DeDe) Dalton McMahon and husband Gordon of New York City; sons, Dallas H. Dalton III of New York City and Michael Orion Dalton and wife, Suzanne of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Rolando Salinas, Allen Salinas, Andres Salinas, Ryan McMahon, Rachal McMahon, Kathryn McMahon, Michael O. Dalton Jr., and Chase Dalton; two brothers, Vincent F. Linney and Joseph O. (Phil) Linney of Refugio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
