Francis J. (Frank) Walborn was quietly called home on March 6, 2012, with his daughter by his side. He was 90 years old.

Born November 9, 1921 in Alexander, N. Dakota, the family moved to Goble, Oregon shortly thereafter. Eventually, Frank settled in Warren with his wife and family in the home he built.

Frank proudly served in WWII in the Army Air Force, flying over 50 missions, as an Operations Engineer. One of his favorite stories to tell was how he put out an engine fire while in flight, avoiding an earlier end to his life, and the other crew members.

He has had many jobs, but his most rewarding and most recent was at Benson High School in Portland as an Electric Shop teacher. He enjoyed his students wholeheartedly, and with many, was not only their teacher but also their mentor.

Retirement did not slow him down. He was active with many hobbies, his favorite being ballroom dancing. If there was a dance, Frank was there.

The dance is over now, and he leaves behind his son, Brad Walborn, his daughter; Francy Kjornes, four grandchildren, one great-grandson and his sister, Evelyn Bauserman.

His wife, Yvonne, preceded him in 2009.

He will be missed by many, since he touched so many lives and hearts. The last line in his biography reads: "I have very few regrets". How many of us can say that?
