NEWTON —

Richard B. Hogan, 71, died on Tuesday (April 10, 2012) at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1940, the son of Alice Mae (Billings) and Morris Richard Hogan.
Richard graduated from high school in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Navy on Oct. 28, 1958. He was medically discharged on March 1, 1962.
After the service, Richard worked as a photographer for the Newton Kansan. His love for photography became a favorite past time.
Survivors include his four children, Kelly Kathleen Hogan of Wichita, and three sons, Michael Richard and wife, Jana of Valley Center, Timothy Patrick and wife, Sonya of Lawrence, and Daniel Philip and wife, Holly of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Bailey, Ethan, Noah, Caleb, Judith, Kasey and Corey; two sisters, Jane and husband, Marvin Rutschman of Dodge City and Nancy and husband, Jim McFarlane; along with many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy Koerner.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, led by Father James Mainzer. The public visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting from 5 p.m. until Rosary time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton. United States Naval Honor Guard will present honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center Hospice, in care of the funeral home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
