After the passing of his wife Sarah Jane, William Osgood and his widowed sister-in-law Caroline (Abbe) Brown joined forces. Caroline cared for the Osgood household and children from Connecticut to New York City and on to Toledo, Ohio. After Col. Robert M. Abbe - rhe father of Caroline, Sarah and Bessie - married for a second time, Caroline and Sarah's young sister Bessie also joined this household until her marriage to George Newton Seymour. Caroline Brown and William Osgood never remarried.

William Osgood's occupation was working for the railroad, making its way west, opening up new lands. In Toledo, he was first a Passenger Conductor, and then a Depot Manager.

From the "Toledo Blade" April 23, 1889: 'Died - Osgood - April 22, William H. Osgood, at his residence, 301 Morris street. Funeral Wednesday, April 24, at 2 o'clock p.m., from residence.'
