NEW LISBON, Wis. -- Francis Joseph Staab, 79, New Lisbon, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007. Mr. Staab was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Catherine, Kan. He worked in the oil fields of Texas and Kansas.


Survivors include five children, Donna Challender and Catherine Spence, both of Westfield, Francis Staab Jr. of New Lisbon, Lula Smyser of Mauston and Christina Derkez of Tomah; a brother, Robert of Victoria, Kan.; three sisters, Pauline Ness of Dallas, Aurelia Hammerschmidt of Manhattan, Kan., and Lydia Sander of Hays, Kan.


The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Russell, Kan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Russell. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in care of Russell Funeral Home, 610 N. Elm, Russell 67665-0566. There will be no visitation.
