In 1903, when she was almost eight years old, she moved with parents to Ottawa, Kansas. She attended the Ottawa schools, and spent the remainder of her life in Ottawa.
She was a homemaker, and after her husband's death became employed at Crestview Nursing Home as a cook and dietary aide. She worked there for 17 years from 1955 until her retirement in 1972.
She was a member of North Baptist Church at Ottawa.
Mrs. Dodd remained in her home at 835 North Main St., Ottawa, until she entered Crestview Nursing Home ten years ago. She passed away there at noon on Friday, May 20, 1988, at the age of 92 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy Lloyd, and husband, Evan of Route 1, Princeton, Kansas; six grandchildren, Louis Dodd, Dean Dodd, Donna Rae Black, Linda Tesar, Connie Womble, and John Lloyd; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Brownfield of LeRoy, Kansas; and a sister-in-law, Florence West of Yates Center, Kansas.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two sons, Clarence Dodd on May 19, 1971, and Harry Dodd on April 21, 1978; a grandson, Arnold Dodd, on October 7, 1986; three brothers, Ernest, William, and Ted West; and a sister, Ida May Jones.
Mrs. Dodd's family was the center of her life and her favorite pastime was preparing delicious food to share with them. She was well-known for her chicken'n dumplings and homemade bread. She also spent many hours in front of her television set viewing her favorite programs.
Although she will be sadly missed, she will always remain in the memories of those who knew and loved her.
