John Bly was the oldest child to Glenn Bly and Julia Bly. He served his country during WW2 in the US Navy on board the USS Forester in both the eastern front, and pacific front. He was known for his cars, and giving out half dollars to his nephews and nieces. Later in life he went to live with his nephew Glenn Forshaw, whom helped take care of him until his passing 10 days before Thanksgiving, which he stated "Leave a seat for me." to Glenn, which he honored.
