Bisher, Marie (Mendenhall), born in 1927, of Oxnard, formerly of Glendale, CA passed away Sunday March 16, 2008 in Ventura, CA. Marie was an avid reader, with a keen interest in history, especially California history (and was fortunate to have visited all of the California Missions). She served as chef for the YWCA and the Los Feliz Blind Club in Glendale; and then volunteered several years with RSVP in Burbank, CA. Crocheting baby blankets for Children"s Hospital of Los Angeles was a passion that she continued when she moved to Oxnard. Joining a wonderful group of women at the Wilson Senior Center, handmade articles were lovingly crafted and then donated to hospitals, and to the VA for military families. Another passion was Bingo. She loved the social aspect as well as the game, and made many friends at various Bingo venues in Oxnard. Realizing a childhood dream of moving to the beach, Marie was very happy in the wonderful community where she spent the last four years of her life. Services will be private. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
