Obituary, WATERLOO REGION RECORD, Kitchener, Ontario - Aug. 25, 2008
GEIGER, James "Ed" - Passed away peacefully, on August 22, 2008, with his loving family by his side, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Bernice (nee Becker) of Kitchener for 56 years. Loving father of Cheryl Geiger (Paul), Carol Stuckless (Alex), all of Kitchener and Caren Grimm (Dan) of Waterloo. Cherished Grandpa of Laura and Louise Grimm. Dear brother of Lorraine Brubacher and Richard Geiger (Pat), all of Kitchener. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Jeannine Ross (Lorne) of Waterloo. Ed will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Herman and Flossie (nee Witmer) Geiger and by his brother-in-law, John Brubacher. Ed's great pleasures in life were spending time with his family, caring for his cars and watching football. He enjoyed maintaining his own home and those of his daughters and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand when needed. He took great pride in supporting his granddaughters in all their activities. He led by example with his generosity, compassion and kindness. He was always there in his own quiet way never expecting any recognition. He will be remembered as a "true gentleman and a gentle man". Cremation has taken place. Ed's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 from 12 noon until the time of his funeral service to celebrate his life in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Memorial donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com for Ed's memorial. Special thank you to Dr. Berrigan, Dr. Califaretti, Dr. Moolman and all of the nursing staff at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and the Grand River Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of this earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. -- 1 Peter 4:1-2 NIV
