Chester, 71, of 1608 Mount Vernon
Rd. SE, died Tuesday, Feb. 18,
1997, in Virginia Gay Hospital,
Vinton, after a long illness. Ser-
vices: 1 p.m. Friday, Teahen Fu-
neral Home, by the Rev. Nancy
Cogan. Burial: Cedar Memorial
Park Cemetery. Friends may call
from 4 to 7 p.m. today and after
noon Friday at the funeral home,
Survivors include four daughters,
Susie Jaegle of Branson, Mo.,
and Darlene Clubb, Teena
Theiss and Debbie Gilbert,
all, of Cedar Rapids; a son,
Kent Burns of Pecatonica, M.;
three sisters, Pearl Atkinson of
Leslie, Alaska, Ethel Ridenour of
Bellvue, Alaska, and Esther Wilitong,
of Carney, Kan.; and three
brothers, Merle Chester of Carney,
Kan., and Lloyd Chester and Max
Chester, both of Silvis, Ill.
Born Nov. 23,1925, in Adair, he
married Eva Young in Davenport
on April 14, 1951. She died in 1994.
Homer was a lumberjack through-
out his life and a member of
Teamsters Local No. 238.
He was preceded in death by a
son, Donald Burns, and two grandsons.
Homer was a practical, kind
and loving human being of great
integrity. He inspired those who
knew him and his smile and
laughter will be missed by many.
A memorial fund has been established.
