Leocadia was born to Marcos Cabrera and Henrietta Alice Jane Tudge in Cuba. She lived in Cuba until the late 1880s or early 1890s and then moved to New York City with her family. Her father had become a US citizen in 1875. Leocadia had numerous half-siblings from her father's previous marriage, some of which lived in Cuba and others in the USA. She, her sister, Christina (memorial #91426011), and her mother, Henrietta, all worked in the garment industry in New York. Leocadia's business, Trinity Garment Co., appears in the NYC directory in 1915. Leocadia's mother died in 1916 and it appears from census records that Leocadia cared for her father until his death in 1923. She met Jacob Bauman, who was also in the garment business in NY, they became a couple and had one child together, Edwin Everett Bauman. By 1930 they had moved to Ridgefield Park, NJ. After her husband's death in 1941 she ran a boarding house. She loved to tend her flower garden and seemed to delight in her grandchildren. Leocadia died at her son's house in Bogota, NJ in 1960. Her remains were cremated and the ashes scattered. A cenotaph was created at Pinelawn Memorial Park and Arboretum. (death cert.; family records; NYC directories; FC 1900-1940 & NY state census 1905)
