She was raised on the farm her father owned near Franklin, so she learned the chores and responsibilities of farm life. Having six younger siblings meant helping with the smaller children as well as doing her share of household chores.
What schooling she had took place in Franklin. At the age of 18, Bertha married Oussie Kingsford Lowe who had been working on her father's farm. They were married Sept. 26, 1906 in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Bertha's first child, LeOra was born June 30, 1907 in Oussie's mother's home in Cherryville. They later built a log home near the Whitehead home where her second daughter, Reva was born Nov. 23, 1909. Her third daughter, Retta was born in their home Dec. 30, 1911.
Bertha was active in her LDS Branch serving as Secretary in the Relief Society for a time.
On Feb 23, 1915, while giving birth to a baby boy, Bertha and baby both died. Bertha bled to death leaving three small daughters in the care of their father, Oussie and those who helped him care for them. She was only 27 years old.
Oussie and the girls sorely missed their wife and mother. She was dearly loved.
The funeral was held in Franklin and Bertha was buried in the Franklin Cemetery.
