Hickory ~ Mr. Edward "Ed" Biernacki, 91, passed away Friday, March 30, 2012 at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1921 in Naugatuck, CT, the son of Stosh and Stella Biernacki. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, on the Audio/Visual Committee and as an Usher. He was a member of Gideons International serving on their prison ministry, a graduate of Ohio State University and was retired from the Environmental Protection Agency. Mr. Biernacki was also a World War II veteran serving in the US Coast Guard. He is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Koger Biernacki; two sons, Douglas Biernacki and wife, Sherrie of Germantown, MD and Stan Biernacki of Mt. Airy, MD; two daughters, Jami Pritchard and husband, Brian of Mt Airy, MD and Stacy Oxford and husband, Lee of Salisbury, MD; a sister, Anne Wajdowicz of Seymour, CT; seven grandchildren, Jesse Oxford, Alison Kinlaw, Kyle Oxford, Lisa Welte, Nicholas Pritchard, Joseph Pritchard and Sarah Biernacki and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM Monday, April 2nd at Woodlawn Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Ed Yount, Rev. Cris Alley and Rev. Mike Daughtrey. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friend from 10 to 11:30 AM before the service at the church.
