OBITUARY

Mrs. Margaret Sheneman after a distressing illness of one month departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. O. Burch, and husband in Quincy, Mich.m Sept. 6, 1918

Margaret Grove the sixth child in a family of five boys and four girls born to Batavia township old time pioneers, Mr. And Mrs. Archibald Grove, and in said township first saw the light of day Sept. 5, 1845, and went out into the "Beyond" just one day succeeding her 73rd birthday.

In 1861 Miss Grove was United in marriage to Jos. W. Sheneman, the 3rd son of another Batavia pioneer family of Mr. and Mrs. John Sheneman and upon a portion of the Sheneman farm in Batavia the young people commenced housekeeping and upon which farm they remained until they became worthy pioneers.

one child, a daughter, Mrs. Nora Sheneman Burch, came to bless them in their home, grew up and was United in marriage to L. O. Burch prior to the death of Mr. Sheneman, which occurred in 1901.

In the early history of the Batavia Free Baptist Church and W. M. S. Mrs. Sheneman was thoroughly identified and was a charter member of the latter society. She had a love for music, was a fine singer and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Choir in Batavia Church and was noted with her husband for kindly deeds of charity among less favored friends and neighbors.

After the death of her husband she resided on the old homestead a number of years and for two years with her daughter and husband at their home in Quincy.

One year ago, however, she went to Coldwater to live with her brother, A. R. Grove who had but recently sustained the loss of his good wife.

Prior to her fatal illness Mrs. Sheneman spent a week with another brother, Mr. Theron Grave, and his wife at their summer cottage at Morrison's Lake and from there returned to Quincy, where all means were employed to restore her to health, but to no avail, and death came as a welcome release to pain. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. L. O. Burch, four brothers, Elisha Grove of Farmington, Minn., A. B. Grove, Theron and Jay of Coldwater and one sister, Mrs. J. A. Murphy, of Batavia.

Two funeral services were held for the deceased, on Monday p.m., One at Quincy home of Mrs. Burch at 1:30 o'clock and the second in Batavia F. B. Church at 3p.m. where services were held 17 years ago for Mr. Sheneman.

''Rev. H.p. Collin of Coldwater gave a line comforting address. The remains were taken to the beautiful Sheneman lot in Batavia cemetery.
