SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Verna Ruth Jeanette Boyett, 84, will be held 12 noon, Saturday April 7, 2012 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Murry Hodge. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday April 6, 2012 at the funeral home.
Jeannie was born in Houston, TX on June 26, 1927 and passed away on April 5, 2012. She was a resident of Shreveport, a homemaker and a loving mother. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman H. Boyett, Sr.; parents, Boyd and Allie Knox; sisters, Daisy Campbell, Gussie Dean, Freddie May Evans, and Mary Wright; brothers, William and Herbert Knox. She is survived by her sons, Lewis D. Allgood, Michael L. Allgood and wife, Gena, and Herman H. Boyett, Jr.; daughter, Dana A. Gunn and husband, Bill; stepdaughters, Elaine Emmons and husband, Donnie, and Diane Allen; grandchildren, Stephanie Pinney, Ryan Dean, Travis Dean, Britt Gunn, Jerad Gunn, Kevin Allgood, Shelli Allgood Girard, Terri Johns, Brad Emmons, Sage Allen and Susan Allen; 24 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Mamie Newbury.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Allgood, Britt Gunn, Jerad Gunn, Frank Dean, David Dean and Lawrence Dean.
