Ralph Levi Ghere, 75, of Butler, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008, at the Bates County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10AM on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the Underwood-Brandtonies Funeral Home in Butler, Mo. Burial will follow the service at the Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family suggests contributions be made to either the Butler Christian Church or the Appleton City Christian Church. Mr. Ghere was born on August 20, 1932 in Bates County to Ralph and Allie Lena (Wix) Ghere. On Jun 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to Joan Cox. Levi was a farmer all of his life until 1989 when he turned over the farming operation to his on, and began over the road trucking. He enjoyed trucking until 2000 when he suffered from a stroke. Even though he had suffered a stroke, Levi always made the best of everything and continued to live life on his terms. Mr. Ghere grew up attending the Double Branch Christian Church, and then went on to attend the Appleton City Christian Church. Levi loved to travel and he has visited all fifty states. Levi was also a charter member of the Bates County Elks Lodge. Levi enjoyed flying and was an accomplished pilot. Levi is survived by his wife Joan Ghere of Butler, Mo.; one son Martin Ghere of Butler, Mo.; one brother Joe (Eula) Ghere of Butler, Mo.; one sister Norma (Lloyd) Diehl of Nevada, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Services are under the direction of the Underwood-Brandtonies Funeral Home of Butler, Mo.
