Sarah Lou Atchley, 85, Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 1:10 p.m. at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born on March 3, 1927 in Columbia, Kentucky the daughter of Frank and Nanny (Wheat) McQueary. She was born and raised in Columbia, Kentucky. Lived in Burgin, Kentucky from 1945-1953. She then moved to Hartsville in 1953, Westport in 1954 and to Letts in 1957. She was a member of the Rodney Friendship Decatur Separate Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening. She married Chester Bryan Atchley in Columbia, Kentucky on December 30, 1944 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2011. Survivors include her daughters, Betty Lou Floyd of Martinsville, Judy Gayle (Jerry) Shoopman and Angela Sue (Rocky) Turley both of Greensburg; her sons, Gary Chester (Ruth) Atchley and Daniel Lee (Jan) Atchley both of Greensburg; her 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, sister, Irene Loy, brothers, Robert & Arnold McQueary. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Aerie Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alzheimers Association.
