Born in Schoenweisse, Germany to William J. Werner and Julia A. (Klein) Werner. Came to the United States December 1888. Husband of Frances (Kauzer) Werner.

Robert Werner was born June 7, 1871, in Germany. Frances Kauzer was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 23, 1877 and they were married in Ellinwood, Kansas, on November 9, 1897.


They moved to a farm near Hudson, Kansas, in Stafford County. In 1907 they moved to a farm one mile south of the St. Peter and Paul Church northwest of Kinsley. To this union twelve children were born, six boys and six girls: Hildegard (Mrs. Alfons Schmitt); Leonard (deceased); Hugo (deceased); Leo of Ellinwood; Mamie (Mrs. Frank Herrmann); Frances (Sister Mary Vincent); Robert, Kit Carson, Colorado; Joe of Offerle; Julia (Sister Mary Charles); Gertrude (Mrs. Glen Cavenah, deceased); Florence (Mrs. Arnold Weiss) of Rangely, Colorado, and Walter, who lives on the home place.
