This obituary is from the Elkhart Truth, January 11, 1965. Mrs. Dora Steele, 80 of 1715 S. Seventh Street, died at her home Saturday night. She had been in ill health for several months. She was born November 21, 1884 in Wakarusa and married Elmer Steele March 7, 1907 in Wakarusa. He died in 1953.

Surviving are two sons, Raymond, Elkhart and Cecil, Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, MI.: a daughter, Mrs. George (Helen) Doland, Elkhart, a brother, Loyal Holdeman, Goshen, three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Clark, Chicago, Mrs. Mattie Swenke, San Francisco, CA. and Mrs. Emma McDowell, Logansport, IN., three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Brethren Church of which she was a member. Friends are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Semm Funeral Home. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state until services. Burial is to be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
