Billie Jean Raikes Ries, age 77, of Smyrna, TN passed away Monday, April 2, 2012. A native of Milton, TN she was the daughter of the late Rucker and Mary Kate Greer Raikes. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wilbur Ries who passed away in 2009.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00AM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Brother W.D. Thomason will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
Mrs. Ries is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and David Bucher of Troy, OH, Judy Hailey of Smyrna, TN, and Carmin and Troy Arnold of Smyrna, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert "Bud" (Margaret) Raikes of Smyrna, TN; and four grandchildren, Thomas Bucher of Smyrna, TN, Sara Bucher of Columbus, OH, Ryan and Evan Hailey both of Murfreesboro, TN, sister-in-law, Carolyn Kay Ries Clark of Colorado Springs, CO; and four nieces and one nephew.
Mrs. Ries was a life-long member of LifePoint Church, formerly known as Smyrna First Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Sewart Air Force Base and was a retired Feed Purchaser with Tennessee Farmers Co-Op.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Saint Thomas Hospital, Stonecrest Medical Center, Life Care Center of Hickory Woods, Woodfin Funeral Home and to the many friends who have called and visited.
Larry Lee, Gerald Lee, Dick Johns, Roger Neal, Steve Koehler, Earl Thomas, Roger Lee, Jim Godfrey, Brad Bowen and Jeff Kirby will serve as pallbearers.
