ABERDEEN - Billie Jean Owings Hawkins, 70, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born Nov. 17, 1941, in Monroe County to Jim Mayfield Owings and Mary Catherine Howell Owings. She was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. She was a pharmacy technician with Fred's Pharmacy in Aberdeen and a member of the First Baptist Church of Aberdeen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Howell Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Grant Hawkins of Aberdeen; one daughter, Terri Lynn London (Jay) of Tupelo; one son, Ronnie Owings (Lisa) of Athens; one brother, Bobby Owings (Jo Ann) of Athens and four grandchildren, Lance Owings, Hunter Owings, Taylor Owings and Ella Cate London.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Billy King, Jimmy Harrington, Eddie Arnold, Gus Jones, Terry Pinkerton, Frank Bender, David Lusby and Stanley Newman.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.

Memorials may be made to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo or to Palmer Home for Children in Columbus.
