Benjamin Carter Duncan was the son of John Walton Duncan & Mary {Called "Polly'} (Knight) Duncan of Washington Parish, Louisiana. On the 18th of January 1892 in Pike County, Mississippi he married Sarah Margaret "Sally" Holmes of Pike County in Pike County. He established himself as a farmer in old Pike County and was a longtime resident of the Salem community. His farm was located north of Salem & south of Manning's Crossing. Their old homeplace (now bricked over) still stands on the east side of this road (Hwy. 27) & south of the road named for his son - the Jack Duncan Road. Benjamin & Sarah Duncan were members of Salem Baptist Church. While returning home to Mississippi from a trip to New Orleans (he had been ill for some time) he took respite in Bogalusa where he died. He had a Masonic funeral. There were seven children of this union, 3 sons & 4 daughters:

3. Thomas Clyde (1895-1896),
4. Otera,
5. Gussie,
6. Wallace Parker "Jack", &
7. Infant Daughter (21 Oct. 1908 - 22 Oct. 1908 - bur. in the Isaac Duncan Cemetery).
