Source: "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia" by Huxford: John Anderson, Jr. (he never used the Jr. in signing his name), a son of John Anderson (Vol. V), was born in 1805 in present Emanuel County. His wife was named Cynthia, born 1811 in Burke County, maiden name unknown. He continued living with his parents until his marriage about 1833. He was living with them at the time of the 1830 census. Born to John and Cynthia Anderson were the following children (see children list). John Anderson and family moved to Clinch County about 1855. They appear in the 1850 census of Tattnall county, and in the Clinch County 1860 census. He died in Clinch County in 1877, and was buried in the Guest Mill Pond Cemetery. His widow appears in the 1880 census of Clinch, and died about 1885. She was buried by her husband. Their graves are unmarked. He appears to have been a tenant farmer. Clinch County deed records show that he never owned any land there.
His son, Brice Anderson, enlisted at Homerville, April 17, 1862, in Company G, 50th Volunteer Georgia Infantry Regiment, a Clinch County company. The published company roll shows he died of disease in camp near Savannah, June 9, 1862.
I connect to John and Cynthia Anderson through their son Malachi Anderson. I don't know what prompted Malachi Anderson to move to Florida in the late 1850's unless it was to help control the American Indian troubles of that time or perhaps the uncertainty of the times with the War Between the States looming in the near future. He and Georgia Ann Rewis Anderson left Tattnall County GA with three of their five children, two were subsequently born in Florida. John and Cynthia Anderson moved into Clinch County Georgia and remained there until their death. (Shirley West Gotsch Anderson Family Research.)
