Mr. Boyd collapsed on the course and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Long active in church and civic affairs, he was a member and past president of Mayfield Kiwanis Club and was recently recognized for 21 years perfect attendance.
He was a past lieutenant governor of District I of the Kentucky-Tennessee District of the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Red Cross board of directors, secretary of the Mayfield-Graves County Planning and Zoning Board and a member of the board of directors of South Highlands Country Club.
Mr. Boyd was a member of the official board of First Methodist Church and served as its secretary for several years.
He was owner of Black and Boyd Insurance Agency.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Boyd; a son, Dalton Boyd Jr.; a daughter, Pamela Ann Boyd; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clifton Boyd, and a sister, Mrs. Ralph Thomas, all of Mayfield.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Byrn Funeral Home, the Rev. W. B. Potts officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
