When Vance Victor Angel was born on September 28, 1873, in Gilroy, California, his father, James, was 32 and his mother, Henrietta, was 21. He married Grace Reid in 1910. They had three children during their marriage. He died on February 11, 1967, in Santa Ysabel, California, at the age of 93, and was buried in Escondido, California.
Brothers Verde (1875-1951), Vance (1973-1967), Hector, and Fred Angel were Mesa Grande cattlemen. They began bringing stock down to Borrego around 1900.
They had a cabin and cattle camp near mouth of Borrego Palm Canyon, perhaps as late as the 1920s.
