MASON CITY - Harold 'Bud' W. Factor, 77, of 600 Briarstone Drive, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2001) at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. Joel Dahlen and intern pastor Jacqueline Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Harold was born on Nov. 25, 1923, the son of William E. and Edith (Newton) Factor in Ackley.
On Oct. 28, 1942, Bud began his active service for his country in the United States Navy. During his service he earned the following commendations: WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Area Medal, Navy Occupation Ribbon (Europe), Asiatic Pacific Medal and the China Service Ribbon. Bud was honorably discharged on Oct. 27, 1948.
On June 26, 1951, Bud was united in marriage to Arlene C. Kittleson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union five children were born.
Bud was employed at the Lehigh Portland Cement Company for 361/2 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a member of the local union D106. Bud retired from Lehigh in 1985. The following year Bud started working part time at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery as a grounds keeper.
Bud enjoyed giving of himself which showed in the time he gave to the Community Kitchen. He and four other gentlemen from the church cooked every Friday. Bud was a very family oriented man; he enjoyed doing everything with his wife and family. He loved to play various sports with his grandsons in the back yard.
Bud became a motivated walker who even completed a CROP Walk one year. Bud enjoyed what nature had to offer, including animals, insects and different types of vegetation. Bud was a NASCAR enthusiast, especially when it came to visiting the tracks.
Bud was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, VFW Post 733 and the Lehigh Employees Credit Union.
Those thankful for having shared in Harold's life include his wife, Arlene; five children, Wendy Seidel of Mason City, Cindy Bartusek of Mason City, Connie Thompson of Clear Lake, Lane Factor of Mason City, and Keith Factor of Mason City; one sister, Shirley Huntington of Norwalk; nine grandchildren, Matthew Seidel, Lee Seidel, Jason Bartusek, Joe Bartusek, April Blumberg, Jody Sutton, Miranda Factor, Zachary Factor and Derek Factor; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Factor was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Aline Moe and Betty Kelly; and one granddaughter in infancy, Jessica Marie Thompson.
