William LORD and his wife Tresa SIMPLER Lord moved from Meriwether County, Georgia, to Pike County, Alabama, in the winter of 1864. (Sherman ordered Atlanta burned November 15, 1864).) Family lore has it that the Lords could see Atlanta burning as they left. William Lord's oldest son with his wife, William Thomas and Martha Thrash Lord, moved to Pike County, Alabama, in 1876 - eleven years later.
