Hiskias came to United States on May 6, 1887 from Isojoki, Finland where he was an orphan. He married Maria Ylkanen Peterson on 16 Nov 1899 in Ironwood, MI.
Hiskias operated the Harper and Johnson bakery in Ironwood, Michigan for six months, beginning May 1, 1901. In June 1902, he brought his stepson, Victor to Tamarack, Minnesota where they began farming. He later brought the rest of the family to Tamarack when his daughter Esther was about one month old.
After his wife Maria died, Hiskias left the family in 1920 and moved from Tamarack, Minnesota to Fairport Harbor, Ohio. In the 1930 census, his occupation was a sweeper in an alkali factory.
Hiskias died on Courtland Street in Fairport while walking to visit friends. He lived at 211 Sixth Street in Fairport. He was an active member of the Finnish Lutheran Church.
