Daughter of William Mac and Mary A. Beckwith, wife of Barton Jackson Gladstone, whom she married on January 20, 1885 in San Luis Obispo, California, and mother of Gladys Mae (married John L. Hansen), and Dwight Beckwith Gladstone.

In 1870, Alice Mac, aged 8, was living in Elko, Nevada, in the home of her mother, Mary A. Mac, aged 45, who kept a lodging house, with siblings, Miron Mac, aged 27, a miner, and William Mac, aged 22, a miner.

In 1880, Alice M. Mac, aged 18, a school teacher, was living in Ukiah, Mendocino, California, in the home of her brother, Myron B. Mac, aged 37, a farmer, and his wife, Sadie Mac, aged 24, and their children, Mabel Mac, aged 6, William Edward Mac, aged 1, and her mother, Mary A. Mac, aged 59. Living next door was William G. Mac, aged 32, a stock raiser, and his wife, Annie G. Mac, aged 26.

Marriage - B.J. Gladstone and Alice M. Mac: Marriage Licence and Certificate, State of California, County of San Luis Obispo. These are to authorize and license any Justice of the Peace, Priest or Minister of the Gospel of any denomination to solemnize within said County the marriage of Bart J. Gladstone, native of New York, aged 29 years, resident of San Luis Obispo, County of San Luis Obispo, State of California, and Alice M. Mac, native of California, aged 22 years; resident of Cayucos County, of San Luis Obispo, State of California, said parties being of sufficient age to be capable of contracting marriage.
