Robert W. Case, 90, of County Highway 128, rural Upper Sandusky, died at 11:43 p.m. Wed. Sept. 15, 2010, at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Eden Township, Wyandot County, to Earl H. and Lulu A. (Stewart) Case. He married Ruthe V. (Mayer) Case Feb. 22, 1947, at United Church of Christ, Sycamore, and she preceded him in death March 18, 2005.

Surviving Robert are his two daughters, Mrs. Roberta R. (Stephan) Ekleberry of Avon Lake and Ms. Penny L. Case of rural Upper Sandusky; two granddaughters, Benita (Jeff) Bintz and Lisa (Martin) Chatlos; five great-grandchildren, Justin Archer, Jaron Bintz and Michael, Jalissa and Jacquelyn Chatlos; and a sister, Mrs. Betty V. Grossman of Upper Sandusky.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Mary Jo Turk and Helen Ruth Winspear; and two brothers, William Stewart Case and Earl Henry Case.

Robert was a farmer and retired supervisor of buildings, grounds and transportation for the Upper Sandusky School system. He was a lifetime member of Sycamore United Church of Christ where he served as both Deacon and elder over the years. He served in the 15th Field Artillery Observation Battalion during World War II in U.S. Army and was a member of the Sycamore American Legion Post 250. His hobbies included woodworking, traveling to all 50 states, Canada, Australia and Europe. He also loved to watch his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.

Robert became a member of the Enterprise Masonic Lodge 579 April 10, 1952 where he was Worshipful Master for 1957 and 1960. He was also honored by the lodge for outstanding service to free masonry Jan. 21, 1981. He was treasurer from 1984 until 2002 and he received the 50 year jewel April 2, 2002. He became a member of the McCutchen Chapter 96 April 24, 1967 and a served as High Priest in 1974 and again in 2001. He served as H.O.H.P. in 1973 and was District Deputy Grand High Priest from 1989-1991. He also received the meritorious service award from ther McCutchen Chapter 96.

Robert joined the Upper Sandusky Council 98 Feb. 13, 1968 where he served as Master in 1975, was a member of the Order of the Silver Trowel in 1974, received the distinguished service award Feb. 9, 2002 and received the Ish Sodi award Oct. 1, 2000. He became a member of the Marion Commandery 36 Dec. 12, 1967, where he served as Eminent Commander in 1980 and received the Grand Commandery Meritorious Service Award in 1990. He became a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, 32nd Degree April 18, 1970 where he was Lodge Ambassador from 1977-1991, County Director from 1993-2002 and received the Meritorious Service Award and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo "Red Cap' in June of 2001. He also was a member of the Aladdin Shrine since 1968, was the Wyandot County Shrine Club President from 1976-1994, was secretary from 1997-2001 and received the Meritorious Service Award Dec. 2, 1995.

He was also a member of the Allied Masonic Degrees, serving in the Hi-Point Council 120 since Sept. 29, 1979, served as Sovereign Master in 1989, joined the Red Branch of Erie in 1982 and the Order of Knighthood in January of 2007, was an Honorary Member of Fireland Council Ohio Priory 18, was a Knight York Cross of Honor in 1980 and was Hospitalor for Wyandot County, Commissioned from 1982-2002.

He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1952where he was Worthy Patron from 1958-1961. He was a member of the DeMolay Alumni, Charter Member 2280 where he received the DeMolay Cross of Honor and the DeMolay Legion of Honor April 19, 1977. He was also a member of the Nevada Assembly, Rainbow for Girls where he received the Rainbow Cross of Honor in 1977 and served on the advisory board for Nevada and Upper Sandusky. He was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon in 1988 and transferred to Ohio Northern Forest in 1990. Robert also was a member of the Apollo Chapter, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons/88 Philalethes Society 198 in Washington, D.C. in 1981. He became a member of the Order of the Bath and the Orderof the Cork in 1981, Order of the Rock on 2002 and the High Twelve Club, Fostoria in 2002 where he was president from 2002-2003.

Robert became a member of Grand College of York Rite Masonry April 29, 2002 where he was a Charter Member and was named Class Namesake for Northwest York Rite Festival in 2004. He received the Meritorious Service Award of the Scottiosh Rite of the Valley of Toledo "Red Caps" in June of 2001 and was the president of the Ohio Council of Deliberations Valley of Toledo from 2003-2007. He received the Distinguished Service Award of the Grand Council of Ohio in October 2005, the Distinguished Service Award of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio in October 2006 and was appointed Grand Chaplain "Ohio Association of High Twelve Clubs" for the year of 2007-2008.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 Saffel Ave., Sycamore, OH 44882, (419) 927-6252. A Masonic service will begin at 8 p.m.

His body will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at Sycamore United Church of Christ. His funeral will begin at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robin LaBolt officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Sycamore, where graveside services will be conducted by Sycamore American Legion Post 250.
