Reuben was a Latter Day Saints convert, married and had three sons in Salt Lake City and was preaching the good book when something went awry. He and family headed to IL where he became a shoemaker. His son Charles owned a huge profitable farm with quite a house on it. When Charles neared the end of his life, he put the farm on the market. Some city slickers from "in town" bought the place sight unseen as a retreat. Not until the day of closing did anyone realize that Charles & Alma's only son's, my gradfather, wife's parents (Gerberichs) were the buyers! The Gerberichs in Spring Lake are the brothers & wives of my great grandfather who went to a couple of the funerals there and never realized that is where his daughter's in-laws were buried.
