Peter Asplin/Aspling was the son of Isaac Aspland (1752 – 1781) and Ann Ussel (1755 – 1825). He was born about 1776 in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England and was baptized on 24 Sep 1780 in Littleport, Cambridge, England ("Peter Ussel Aspland in the England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975" FHL Film Number: 2206070, Reference ID:yr 1599-1812).

On 18 Nov 1801 he married Frances Young in Doddington, Cambridge, England. This marriage was witnessed by Edward Burton and Edmund Young. ("Peter Aspling in the England, Select Marriages, 1538–1973" FHL Film Number: 1040458 and
FHL Film Number: 1818447 Reference ID: 147-5). They had the following children: John Asplin (1803 – 1883), Ann Asplin Bliss (1804 – 1863), Elizabeth Asplin Carter (1806 – 1903), Eleanor "Ellen" Asplin Haynes (1809 – ), Mary Aspling (1814 – ), and Thomas H. Aspling (1819 – 1915). Two of Peter Aspling's children emigrated to the United States. Eleanor Asplin Haynes and her son Isaac Asplin along with her husband, Thomas Haynes, and their children emigrated to the United States in 1836 and settled in Missouri. Peter Aspling's son, Thomas Aspling, emigrated to the United States in 1828 and married Georgia Ann Kelly in Missouri. They moved to Deer Lodge, Powell Co., Montana where they raised their children. Peter and Frances Asplin's other children remained in England. However, at least three of Peter and Frances Asplin's grandchildren, Ann Asplin Bliss' sons Peter Bliss and Thomas Bliss, Jr.; as well as John Asplin's daughter, Frances A Berry emigrated to the United States.

On 15 Feb 1824, "Peter Aspland" married Mary Brown in March, Cambridge, England ("Peter Aspland in the England, Select Marriages, 1538–1973" FHL Film Number: 2215987). She had two sons: John Blench Brown (1807 – 1886) and James Clarke Brown who was born on 23 Feb 1818 and died on 20 Oct 1819 in March, Cambridge, England.("James Brown in the England, Select Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991" FHL Film Number:2215987).

Some time between 1824 and 1830 they emigrated to the United States. In the 1830 US Federal Census "Peter Asplan" is living in Mendham, Morris, New Jersey with one Free White Persons - Females - 20 thru 29: 1 and Free White Persons - Males - 5 thru 9: 1, presumably his wife Mary and John Blench Brown.

In 1840, Peter purchased land grants in Franklin Co., Missouri signed by President Martin VanBuren. On 17 Jun 1840, Peter Asplin and John B Brown became Naturalized Citizens of the United States in Franklin Co., Missouri. The Naturalization was witnessed by Gideon Richardson and Clayton Hinton. By 1860, Peter and Mary Brown settled in Hickory County, Missouri where they and John Blench Brown lived out their lives and are buried.
