Cari was born in Sao Paulo Brazil to Elpedio Parenti and Maria Meliani, both Italian immigrants to Brazil. Maria was an indentured servant, and Elpidio had traveled to Brazil to free workers from the opression of indentured servitude. Elpedio, Maria and Cari returned to Europe, living in Italy and France before moving to the United States.

Her father came first, and in 1912 Maria, Cari and two siblings joined Elpedio in Bingham Utah. The family moved across the US, settling in San Francisco by 1915.

Carinda was very political, and was blacklisted from the Peri Cigar company after a failed attempt at unionizing the workers. Her mother Maria was also fired for Cari's attempt.

Cari met her husband Mario while her Uncle Luigi Parenti was in jail on suspicions of having something to do with the WWI Preparedness Day Parade bombing in San Francico, 1916. Several Wobblies were jailed, including Luigi, his friend Mario and Mario's brother Priamo. Cari's father used Cari to bring messages to Luigi in jail, and this is how Cari and Mario met.

Cari and Mario lived in San Francisco's North Beach. Their daughter Russia was born in 1920. Mario died in 1952. Carinda's health declined, diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and died in 1995.
