Bud graduated from Duchesne High School in 1943 and was drafted into the US Army, where he joined the Army Corps of Engineers. He served in the Pacific building runways and putting things aback in order.
After his service during World War II, he went to work first for R.M. Jensen, contractor, and then for Gibbons and Reed where he stayed until retirement.
Bud is preceded in death by: his parents; siblings, Ted, Delpha, Ronald (Tuff), Ercel (Nye), Gayle, Scott, and William. He is survived by: wife, Ercel Merkley Nye; children, Floyd (Karla), Ann Maestas (Lorenzo), Sharon Sage. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 30 at the mortuary, as well as 1 hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment at the Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd.)
His absence leaves a hole in our hearts, but this legacy remains: a strong work ethic, an understanding of what's real, honor and trust in our dealings with each other, and an extended family who love and support each other. He was truly one of the Greatest Generation.
