Albert N. Bayer died Sunday, March 25, 2012, in Naples, Fla.

He was born in 1917 to Anton and Catherine Bayer in Farrell.

Albert graduated from Sharon High School and attended what is now Youngstown State University as well as Pennsylvania State University, Shenango Campus, in Sharon.

He worked in several plants in the Shenango and Mahoning valleys prior to employment at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard.

He was a planner-estimator for battle-damaged ships at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, Hawaii, in World War II. He had an extended Navy civilian career including the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, Submarine Supply Office and in Washington D.C. at the Bureau of Ships, the Office of the Chief of Naval Material, and Headquarters, Naval Material Command.

He was a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers, American Ordnance Association and Armed Defense Preparedness Association.

Mr. Bayer is survived by a sister, Helen, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mr. Bayer in death was his beloved wife, Diane Cione Bayer; and his brother, Eugene, formerly of Naples.
