Isaac J. Higgins died after a lingering illness with tuberculosis. Isaac was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George O. Higgins and was one of ten children. He was born on a farm near Monticello Feb. 28, 1882. On Oct. 21, 1901, he was united in marriage with Janie McKenzie and to this union six children were born.

"Succumbs to Lingering Illness, Leaving Five Small Children. Funeral Wednesday Afternoon"
"Isaac J. Higgins died Monday morning, Feb. 18th, after a lingering illness with tuberculosis, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Katie White. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church and were in charge of Rev. Paul J. Gilbert. Interment in Monticello Cemetery."
"Mr. Higgins was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George O. Higgins and was one of ten children. He was born on a farm near Monticello Feb. 28, 1882. On Oct. 21, 1901, he was united in marriage with Janie McKenzie and to this union six children were born, Frances (sic) dying last March and Mrs. Higgins on Aug. 19th last of blood poisoning. After the death of his wife, Mr. Higgins' health failed rapidly. He was taken to the Baldwin Sanatorium at Kalamazoo, Mich., for treatment but only remained a short time. He was accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Katie White, who returned home with him on January 17th and he was taken directly to her home where he passed away at the age of thirty five years, eleven months and twenty days."
"Mr. Higgins is survived by his five children: Willard, Charles, Harold, Mary and Lewis, all at home; six sisters: Mrs. Charles Parks, of White Heath; Mrs. Katie White, Mrs. Fred Pierce , Mrs. Charles Tabor, Mrs. Charles Doss, of Monticello; and Mrs. Harry Russell of Lakewood. Mr. Higgins will be greatly missed by his little family and was always kind and affectionate in his home life.";
