Alfred C. Aeberhard, 82, Monticello, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 1990, at the New Glarus Home. He was born on April 12, 1908, in Grindelwald, Canton Bern, Switzerland, the son of Alfred and Rose (Kaufman) Aeberhard. He received his education in Switzerland and came to Monticello in 1928. He was married on April 30, 1934, in Rockford, Ill., to Leora B. Cotherman. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1985.
He was a butcher by trade and in 1930 became a partner in a local meat market. In 1937, he began mink ranching. In 1945, he sold his interest in the meat market and devoted full-time to mink ranching until he retired in 1970.
A member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ, the Great Lakes Mink Association, and
United Mink Producers Association.
Survivors include a son, Alfred E. Aeberhard, Monticello; two brothers, John and Adolph Aeberhard of Switzerland; four grandchildren, Thomas Aeberhard, Monroe, John and Michael Aeberhard, and Lisa Lehr, all of Monticello; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the Zwingli United Church ofChrist, with Reverend Erwin H. Pagel officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were three grandsons, Thomas A. Aeberhard, Monroe, John C. and Michael J. Aeberhard, Monticello; Eugene R. Theiler, Milwaukee; John R. Cotherman, Monroe; and Roy C. Schweizer, Monticello.
