Died as the result of internal injuries after being thrown from a logging cart by a team of frightened horses. Survived by sister, 4 daughters, 2 sons.

OBITUARY:
Mannsville -- Bert F. Gardner, 64, died at his home five miles east of Mannsville, near Mannsville CCC camp S-116, at 3:30 Friday morning, Jan. 31, 1936.

Mr. Gardner was seriously injured Tuesday while drawing logs from the wood lot on his farm. He was accompanies by his son-in-law, Donald Robbins. The team of horses Mr. Gardner was driving became frightened and jumped. The sudden jolt threw Mr. Gardner back on the load of logs which he struck onhis side. He was taken to his home and Dr. Alden of Adams was summoned. Mr. Gardner suffered from a ruptured liver and internal hemorrhages.

He was born in Syracuse, March 17, 1871, son of Albert and Delilah Brown Gardner. On May 28, 1892, he married Celesta Beach in the parsonage of the Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. C. E. Beebe, pastor at that time, officiating. He was a member of the Mannsville Grange No. 16.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his widow, two sons, Claude C. Gardner, of Ogdensburg, and Clarence W. Gardner, of Lorraine, four daughters, Mrs. Beulah L. Thompson, of Adams, Lulu P. Doyle, Sackets Harbor, Mrs. Florence M. Robbins, Lorraine, and Mrs. Margaret Dickinson, Adams; nineteen grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Johnson, of Pulaski.

Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2. Rev. C. W. Barrett, pastor of the Lorraine Methodist Episcopal Church, was officiating minister. The body was placed in the Sandy Creek vault to await interment in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mannsville, in the spring. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery, Mannsville.
