Barbara DeAn Pendleton, 87, of Topeka, passed away March 27, 2012. She was born June 30, 1924, in Holton, KS, the daughter of Thomas F. and Effie Fairbanks Pollock.

She attended Topeka schools until graduation. She then moved to Wichita and worked for Boeing where she became known as Rosie the Riveter and later was a buyer for Crosby Brothers Dept. Store.

On December 8, 1961, Barbara married Carl Pendleton. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Christeen (Ken) Owensby and Shelee (Mitch) Brim; step-son, Randel Pendleton; grandchildren, Eric Burgett, Erin Burgett, Kourtney Martin, Colby Brim; and one great grandchild, Adrian Burgett.

She was preceded in death by three brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Barbara will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St. #100, Topeka, KS 66614 or Westside Family Church, Global Missions, 8500 Woodsonia Dr., Lenexa, KS 66227.
