He married Anna J. "Jennie" Heckman and fathered Sarah Viola (b. 07/19/69 - married a Pugh), Marion Vieva (b. 10/05/76 - married Charles McClellan Forney), Henry H. (b. 07/21/72), Edna Grace (b. 06/23/83 - married Anna Jeanette Bubb), and Reba Lorraine (b. 02/14/87 - married Harry Koons Peters). He later worked as a boatman and a green grocer. Cause of his death is listed as an "aneurysm thoracic aorta."
