Mary was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Cushing to the late A.C and Cora Birdwell. Ms. Barnhart was a longtime member of Highland Park Baptist Church. She retired from the Rusk County Precinct 1 County Commissioner's office after 16 years and retired from Roy H. Laird Hospital after 35 years.
Mary was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Texas Rangers and the Kilgore Bulldogs. She loved and enjoyed her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Charlotte Dunaway, Bruce Barnhart, and Wes Barnhart and wife Marcia, all of Kilgore; sister, Polly Treadaway and husband Gordon of LaMarque; grandchildren, Chris Paul, Chad Paul, Kristi Pride, Joe Buck Barnhart, Kerry Barnhart, Brad Barnhart, Brandi Woods, Bryan Barnhart, Johnna Woolley Young and J. Woolley; 12 great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joe Bill Birdwell and Otis Birdwell; sister, Mary Verlyne Powell; and daughter, Janie Carol Woolley.
Memorials can be made to the Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
