It is quite likely that Ambrose was born in Dutchess County, New York. He appears there in the 1790 census, near Jeremiah. There are several land records in Southern Quebec, in the English townships, that link Ambrose and Jeremiah as father and son.

It is important to beware of on-line trees that name Ambrose as the son of Benson and Rebecca (Richmond) Hunt of Massachusetts. I, and other members of Ambrose' descendancy, have proven him to be the son of Jeremiah.

In addition, the death record of Ambrose' daughter, Charlotte (Hunt) Frost indicates her father was born in New York. Ambrose and Sarah (Wiltsie) Hunt were the parents of a total of 12 child-ren of whom 9 have had follow-up research conducted. Children Peter, Anna and Delilah are presumed (for now) to have died young. Beyond the family Bible of Ulissa (Updegrove) Williams, no documentation for those three children has been found.

There was an ancient cemetery located near or at the location of a present gravel pit, in which several of the HUNT family are reputed to have been buried. So far, no record of burials has been found to confirm that speculation.
