George Leopold was born to George Leopold and Anna Margaretha (Mog) Kind. His birth record was signed by Renatus Erbe, Minister of the Gospel, Town of Rhine, Wisconsin on April 13, 1857.

He came to Grove Township, Minnesota area, which is near Melrose with his parents in 1870. He was a farmer in this same area for several years before buying a farm in Getty Township which is also near Melrose.

He married Albertina Amelia Schwanke on July 8, 1884 in Long Prairie, Todd, Minnesota. They had 4 children. Albertina died February 14, 1892. The then married Adeline "Lena" Behnke on October 18, 1896 in Eagle Valley, Todd, Minnesota. They had 8 children. Adeline died on December 2, 1934.

Left to mourn his death were sons, Albert William (Mathilda Mae Butler), George Louis (Alice Rae Dawson), Edwin Jacob (Lena Anna Rapp), Walter John (Ernestine Wilhelmina Rosenow), Otto Henry (Elsie Lenore Rauthe), Arnold Julius (Ruth Ingeborg Pederson), and Arvin Christof; daughters, Rosa Wilhelmina (Charles Adam) Koterba, Ella Augusta (Arthur) Lloyd, and Margaret Maria (William Frederich) Rapp; brothers, William Frederick (Johanna Christana Discher), Albert Henry (Amelia Theresa Senechal); and sisters, Catherine Christine (Hermann Louis) Barchenger, Mary Susan (William Otto) Schwanke, and Emma (Adolph George) Kuhnert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; spouses; son, Elmer Michael (Elizabeth Lorraine Dusek); daughter, Anna Albertina (Frank William) Quade; brothers, Louis Hugo (Augusta Henriette Lietz) and not named infant brother; and sisters, Wilhelminia "Minnie" (Nicholas) Beck, Anna Rosine (Henry) Wheeling, Clara (infant), and Augusta Anna (Edward John) Lietz.

The funeral was held on October 30, 1942 with burial following the service.
