Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today for John Carey Foland, 78, retired farmer who died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday at the Rahbec Nursing Home in Anderson. He had been ill for three days.
Mr. Foland resided at 608 S. Canal St. He lived in this community most of his life, residing on state road 128 for many years until he moved to Alexandria in 1932.
He was born May 22, 1876, in Hamilton County, the son of Jacob and Mary Elizabeth Webb Foland. He married the former Nancy Hicks at Kokomo.
Surviving are one brother, William Henry Foland, of Florida Station; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held in the Gipe, Williams, and Kyle Chapel this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Milford Adams, pastor of the Vermillion Friends Church. Burial was in Park View Cemetery.
