The News - April 15, 1955

Wyatt Bolin, 62, a retired army sergeant, died at a Bedford Nursing Home Tuesday night. Mr. Bolin suffered a stroke and was taken to the home about 10 days ago.
He served with the army for 28 years retiring in 1942. A Veteran of World War I , he participated in many engagements in France.

Mr. Bolin divided his time between Cannelton, his birthplace and San Antonio, Texas.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Bolin was at Pearl Harbor at the time the Navy was bombed December 7, 1941. His first enlistment was in 1912. He served in World War I, going over seas June 4, 1917 and returned in September, 1919. During his service he took part in the following engagements, Isne-Marne, St. Michael, Meuse-Argonne, the defense of Montididier Noyon, Luneville, Toul, Cantigny and Sealzerais.
He also served in the air corps from 1934 to 1936 and was at Randolph Field and Brooks Field. Mr. Bolin retire as Staff Sergaent in 1943 because of disability incurred in the line of duty.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Litherland and Mrs Lydia Belle Beard of Cannelton, Mrs. Melvina Sanders of Philadpdelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Floyd and Leonard Bolin of Cannelton.

Funeral services for Wyatt Bolin will be on Friday, April 15, at 2 pm at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton, The REV KR Black, pastor of the Seventh Street Baptist Church, Cannelton will officiate. Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of the services at the grave in Cliff Cemetery.
