Dillard McKinley Meadows, 71, of 6006 Johnson Creek Road, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

Mr. Meadows was born in Hot Coal, West Virginia, a son of the late Admiral Dewey Meadows and Georgia Meadows Meadows.

He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Meadows was an employee of the former Hercules, Inc. plant in Covington and had retired in 1994 as a Security Guard at The Homestead.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Meadows was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Mary Hoke Meadows of Covington; two daughters, Debbie Clinebell and her husband, Kevin and Patricia Ward, all of Covington; four grandchildren, Jeremy Ward; Dustin Ward and Heather Trimble, all of Covington, and Brandon Clinebell, currently serving Iraq in the U.S. Army; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Meadows of Caldwell, WV and William Charlie Meadows of Chester, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Kelly officiating.

Interment will be made in the Hoke Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects at anytime at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
