Mrs. Winkler was born on February 21, 1915 in Haynesville, La. and lived at Live Oak Retirement Community. She died January 21, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband C. L. Winkler and by her parents Claud and Clare Waller Beene. She is survived by her children David and Greg, four grandchildren, and one great grandhild. Mrs. Winkler was a graduate of Stephens College, the University of Missouri and received a masters Degree from LSU, Baton Rouge. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport, a teacher of young adults and the women's circle Bible Moderator. She served on the General Assembly Nominating Committe of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. Mrs. Winkler was instrumental in the founding of the Southfield School Book Fair and Live Oak Retirement Community. She was sustainer of the Year of the Shreveport Junior League in 1991.
