Helen Starr, 78, a former nurse, died Sunday in Bellingham. Mrs. Starr, of Sumas, was born July 28, 1909 in Topeka, Kan.
She was a member of the Congregational Church and Order of Eastern Star, and had served as Worthy High Priestess for the organization. She also worked with Rainbow Girls.
Mrs. Starr had been employed as a surgical nurse for St. Luke's General Hospital and as a practical nurse at University Hospital in Seattle. She had worked for Bellingham Plywood Co. from 1941 to 1943, and was a secretary at Morse Hardware Co for 10 years. She also operated a doll hospital and monogram shop.
Survivors include a son Willard Starr of Bellingham; two daughters Phyllis Streng of Oregon and Carolyn Anderson of Sumas; a sister who lives in Orlando, Fla; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
