LAKE CITY — Mrs. Sophie Simmons McClam, widow of John Raymond McClam, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in Lake City Community Hospital.
Born in Johnsonville, Mrs. McClam was the daughter of the late Durant and Nettie Cox Simmons. She was retired and she worked with the Council on Aging and Disabilities and Special Needs of Florence County.
She was a member of Lake City First Baptist Church and Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy McClam Martin and son-in-law, the Rev. William F. Martin of Terrell, Texas; three granddaughters, Connie Gibson of Fort Smith, Ark., Diane Hopkins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Robin Cox of Terrell, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27, in Lake City Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Lake City First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 820, Lake City, SC 29560. The family will have visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
